Before you call, what to have ready

No death certificate is requested. Have the deceased's name and address, the account number if you have it, the date of death, the executor's contact details and a meter reading if possible.

• The deceased's full name, date of birth and last address
• The date of death
• Account, policy or reference numbers if you can find them (old statements or emails)
• Your relationship to the deceased and your own contact details
• The account number and the address the service is supplied to
• Somewhere to note any reference number they give you

What happens next

Thames Water does not publish a response time. Keep a note of when you got in touch and any reference they give you, so you can follow up if needed.
