Most people have around 25 things to work through. We can put them in order for your situation. Usually a couple of minutes, free.
Build my checklistBefore you call, what to have ready
NS&I may ask for original documents for security and a Grant of Representation where savings are 5,000 pounds or more. Their standard 14 day response is currently taking longer.
- The deceased's full name, date of birth and last address
- The date of death
- Account, policy or reference numbers if you can find them (old statements or emails)
- Your relationship to the deceased and your own contact details
- A rough estimate of the account balance
- Somewhere to note any reference number they give you
What happens next
NS&I say to expect a reply within 14 working days. If you have not heard back by then, get in touch again with your reference.
