They ask for the death certificate and, where relevant, the grant of probate, letters of administration or will, plus photo ID if you are next of kin. They reply within 3 business days.

  • The deceased's full name, date of birth and last address
  • The date of death
  • Account, policy or reference numbers if you can find them (old statements or emails)
  • Your relationship to the deceased and your own contact details
  • A rough estimate of the account balance
  • Somewhere to note any reference number they give you
